Lets start with the most recent stuff, This morning I finally grunted out 106 consecutive push-ups. Welcome to the Century Club.
At first I figured this was going to be near impossible but then I pulled my right groin muscle again, forced me into doing just upper body circuits. Best and most favorite upper body move for me, Push-ups. Something good comes from something bad, way it tends to go at times eh?
When I started being able to do sets of 50 I knew it would be a matter of hitting the gym on a day that I felt strong, today I was feeling strong. Finished the circuit doing 256 push ups total.
Tuesday morning I figured it was time to start running again. I’ve scheduled my 13-year-old son and myself for a couple of 5K’s, the first being on the 4Th of July. Last year I didn’t start my preparation until the 2nd… did not turn out to be a good idea, this year I figured I would get out of the blocks earlier.
I run just over 2 miles on reasonably flat ground in 22:38, man, I was psyched! Never stopped running, that was a first. Last fall as a personal challenge I tried to run a 10 minute mile on the treadmill, couldn’t do it, only hit 11:51, couple of times I had to stop early because of heart rate issues. Not Tuesday morning, I averaged a 145hr with a peak of 158. 160 is my threshold anything over and the valve does weird things.
Figure I will run every other day to condition and see what happens, can I break 30 minutes on the 4th?

Congrats on exceeding the 100 pushup goal. You are the MAN.
Now go for those running goals – nothing is beyond your capability.
