I haven’t ended up on the floor yet but I’m working on it!
When I first looked at this exercise in the NROL manual I said to myself “Hey, easy finish move.” That was before I laid up on the ball, arms spread wide, stick running across my chest from palm to palm, and started doing it.
Like most exercises, the degree of difficulty is in how you set it, either in choosing a challenging weight or in how far in intensity you drive. With the Lat Roll the degree is in how far from center you “roll”. Like I mentioned before, I haven’t hit the floor yet although it is only because I have caught myself just prior to.
Men’s Health says this move is one of the best core builders you can do and I am believing it…When you roll out on a shoulder and you are at that, on the edge, balance point, and hold to a count of 5, after 3 sets of 12, no arguing with NROL or MH.
Worth the work.
Last night a friend of my 18 year olds, (a good athlete himself) said something like “Your old man is looking pretty good” My son told him I had been working out for over a year now and that it was really beginning to show.
Nice when the “Old Man” gets a compliment from the kids.

“Nice when the “Old Man” gets a compliment from the kids.”
Yep – always nice. Usually it takes them until 30 or so to recognize that their parents are actually capable and competent individuals.
Keep up the great work.
